My Pledge to America
In the office of the Presidency, we need someone willing to "hit the ground running". I'm not going to start off with blaming the past on prior administrations, because that is both a petty waste of time and resources; as well as the definition of a bad joke.
Let's face it. Every President we've had has left baggage, let's admit to it and leave it in the past. From Day One, Hour One, the problems and responsibilities are are mine, I'll deal with it.
While we're into honest comments, here is my pledge to you - the Amrican Citizen. These aren't accomplishments for the first hundred days, this is my commitment from the moment of the Oath of Office.
Hold Congress accountable to its job description
According to Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, the Congress has a specific, DEFINED, set of jobs. I fully view any authority that Congress wishes to assume, outside these specific controls, to be an attempt to subvert the rightful rule of our country. The American Government is the province of the people, and we, as citizens, need to regain the rightful rule of law in reigning in our representatives.
Remember, Congress answers to the people of this Republic, we DO NOT answer to the Congress.
Balanced budget
The day of the blank check will cease. It's about time we open the American checkbook to an audit, each and every agency, committee and organization - and NOT by Government auditors, but by the people.
We need a balanced budget, and short of an amendment to that end, we need to guarantee that we aren't going to submit to a budget that includes ANY deficit spending. I don't mean "dificit neutral", I mean deficit REDUCTION.
It's about time to pull the heads of Congress out of the sand, and into the hard reality of light.
Citizen oversight of the Congress
I am a firm believer in the rule of law, and that rule of law starts off with “WE THE PEOPLE”. In this country, it isn’t just a right, but it’s our responsibility to hold our elected officials to the fire in maintaining this government we hold so dear. With that in mind, I’ll be firm in demanding the following of the Congress.
- All bills to be considered, excepting certain National Security matters, MUST be placed online, or otherwise accessible to the American people, for 10 business days prior to entry to the floor for debate or consideration.
- All bills entered on the floor, or into committee, will be read in their ENTIRETY before discussion can begin.
- Any changes to the bill, while in review or debate on the floor, will result in the bill going back to a 10 day review BY THE PEOPLE.
Congress is supposed to serve the public interests, not be served BY the public. We’ve all learned in school that there’s no free pass in life, so let’s not give one up. If Congress wants to bypass the American review of their policies, they’d best have a clear 2/3rds vote, because I will side with the American voter in demanding clear review of their actions and antics.
Legal and Moral Rights of ALL Citizens
Regardless of race, religion or sexual preference, all Americans deserve the same rights and privileges. That holds true in all areas; work, home and representation in local, state or federal matters.
